The largest digital skills test in Central Europe
IT Fitness Test is the largest digital skills test in Central Europe. Over the past 14 years, nearly 1,000,000 people have tried the test, from primary and secondary school pupils to teachers and adult users.
Thanks to the virtual classroom function, teachers can effectively test the knowledge of their pupils. And the students? They are motivated to participate with the help of competitions for interesting prizes such as laptops, virtual reality glasses or smart watches. Testing is free and accessible online for registered users in six language versions – Slovak, Czech, Polish, Hungarian, Ukrainian and English.
The project was created with the ambition to support the development of digital literacy and to show how these skills are for study, the labour market and everyday life.
Who can take the test?
Primary school pupils
Pupils will learn how to navigate the digital world and whether they are sufficiently prepared to study in high school.
High school or university students
Students will check which key digital skills they need to improve to be ready for further study or the labour market.
Primary, secondary and higher education teachers
An overview of teachers’ own digital skills will help teachers to learn further according to the proposed recommendations and support students in their further self-development.
Employees of companies and anyone curious
The test can be completed by anyone who wants to know whether they have sufficient digital skills to cope with today's digital challenges
Taking the IT Fitness Test
The test itself is available online and free of charge, allowing everyone to participate at any time and from anywhere. It includes tasks from areas crucial to modern digital life – from internet and security, office tools and social networks, to IT basics, problem-solving and creativity. Each task uses all available tools (web browser, social networking office software, etc.) to get the right answer.
Ideally, the test for primary schools takes 30-45 minutes, and the more demanding test for secondary schools takes 45 minutes. Of course, it is possible to dedicate even longer time to achieving the best possible result. After its completion during the certification period, each participant receives a certificate, clear results and recommendations, which will help them further develop.
Every year, the IT Fitness Test delivers an updated test, new types of questions, and content that responds to current trends in the online environment, cyber security, or working with data.
Objective of the project
The main objective of the project is to provide an objective picture of the level of digital skills.
The test helps schools and teachers identify areas where pupils need support, while motivating both young people and adults to continue learning.
Respondents receive immediate feedback to show their strengths and concrete recommendations for improvement. The project thus contributes to building a digitally confident society and strengthening the competitiveness of the economy of the participating countries.
The test results are evaluated annually in the International Final Report. In addition to basic data on the success of pupils and educators, it also includes other recommendations for the learning process that can contribute to building a digitally mature and resilient generation.
Who is behind the project?
The project is led by the Digital Coalition together with partners from the field of education, IT sector and public institutions. Digital education professionals, educators and competence measurement specialists are involved in the design of the tests. Thanks to their cooperation, we create content that is up-to-date, practical, and understandable for people of all ages. Hundreds of schools and thousands of teachers are involved in the implementation every year, using the test as a tool to develop the digital skills of their pupils.

Why IT Fitness Test?
IT Fitness Test has a significant impact on the education system and society.
Every year, it brings valuable data on how digital skills are developing in Slovakia and neighbouring countries, and these results serve as a basis for the development of educational policies or strategic documents. At the same time, the project promotes a debate on the need for digital education and motivates schools and individuals to address this topic systematically.
Digital skills are a must for all of us in the 21st century. Without sufficient orientation in the digital world, it is very difficult to succeed. In the first step, therefore, we need to know what our strengths and weaknesses are, and then to further educate ourselves in the necessary areas.
Coordinated testing in schools and classrooms is fundamental to the success of the project. The test gives teachers an overview of their pupils’ digital skills levels and allows them to focus their further learning on areas where pupils need to improve.
In addition, pupils and entire classes compete for fantastic prizes that will further help them develop their skills.
